          About Indigo Village

Indigo Village started as a dream of Susie Walton wherein she envisioned a new kind of center that allowed for all kinds of people, young and old to learn, laugh, take care of themselves, grow and create. Of course because this was to be a center of Susie's, priorities were to consist of inspiring lightheartedly and making peace with an upbeat and fun style.

Susie Walton had been teaching the Redirecting Children's Behavior Course for approximately 16 years before her dream of owning a center like Indigo Village started to actualize. Working out of her kitchen in Del Mar and holding weekend seminars such as the Understanding Yourself and Others Course at a hotel down the road was the beginning of the end for staying small. After a course of 24 students, 20 assistants, 2 instructors and a hotel full of puzzled guests Susie began her search for a location to host Indigo Village and all its ambitions.

Susie knew that she wanted a place that had an ocean view, space large enough to hold the growing size of classes and courses and also potential to grow with the dreams and visions that were to come. At the suggestion of a UYO Graduate, Susie and friend Karen came up to the Downtown Encinitas area to look into a yoga studio that had recently gone out of business at the Vulcan Tower Suites. Little did they know that this was to be the new home of Indigo Village, but what did the trick was a sign. Literally, they saw a sign. While standing on the balcony of the future office of Indigo Village headquarters Susie noticed a sign on a building across the street. It read "Indigo Home". Yes, the name of a furniture store sprawled across the back wall of their building was the final decision maker for the new location of Indigo Village. Shortly thereafter Indigo Home relocated its store and the sign was taken down.

The doors of Indigo Village opened on September 7th, 2005. Throughout the first year Indigo Village has created a home for a wide variety of classes, services and celebrations ranging from yoga to spirit dance, to movies and concerts, parenting classes, kids workshops, a book store, counseling, naturopathic medicine, birthing classes, personal growth seminars and much, much more.
